Downtown Greensboro Incorporated (DGI) is an economic development organization focused on stimulating investment and activity in the center city. DGI’s primary focus is to lead the development of Downtown Greensboro as a prosperous and vibrant urban center, memorable and meaningful for those who choose to live, work, play and invest here.

Intern Responsibilities

The Fun Fourth Festival is the Triad’s Fourth of July celebration destination and 2018 will mark the Festival’s 44th annual edition. The Festival features music, interactive amusements, carnival games, craft, food and service vendors and much more.

As the event planning intern, you will be responsible for:
Assisting and coordinating the Fun Fourth Festival.
Work with event sponsors and vendors leading up to and during the festival.
Management of volunteers, including task assignments and training.
Excellent communicator and ability to work independently and on a team.
Highly motivated with an ability to meet deadlines, work under pressure, and juggle multiple assignments.
Willingness to work in a collaborative, fast paced and exciting work environment.

Additional assistance with other Downtown Greensboro, Inc. initiatives may be in included as needed.

Pay Rate

$10/hour
Hours/week

20+ hours/week (will increase leading up to the Festival)

Please note: all Fellows will attend the Leonard Kaplan Leadership Institute at the Center for Creative Leadership on either June 11 & 12, 2018 or June 18 & 19, 2018. If hired as an intern through the Fellows Program, you will attend one of the sessions in June.

Required Qualifications:

Downtown Greensboro Inc. requires strong writing and communications skills, high level of attention to detail and great interpersonal skills. Intern candidates must be self-motivated and enthusiastic
Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Squarespace and Adobe Suite. A flexible schedule and willingness to work some nights and weekends

Downtown Greensboro Inc. is located in a refurbished storefront on Elm Street. We work in a fast-paced yet collaborative and welcoming environment
